Newspapers Agree
On September 26, 2004, the San Bernardino Sun newspaper ran a
front-page headline article as part of a series on writing called,
"What Testing Doesn't Measure."
The article's headline was, "Overtaught, unprepared:
Exams hold students to a lower standard."
It went on to describe how even "A" students were unprepared
for university level writing. "…The A's she earned in high school didn't matter.
Shirley Zepeda needed remedial writing…her first year at Cal State San Bernardino…"
The article reported that students don't leave high school with the skills
they need to succeed at a university. Click here
